Brandon: 48 hour RPG Contest, Entry 1
Well, after finding out the contest starts at GMT, I'm in a bit of a rush, but with 20 minutes out of 48 hours down, I'm in the "zone".

Anyways, here is a short synapsis for the Trevor: Gaiden game, not sure if I will be able to get all this done, but I will sure try.

Trevor: Gaiden story

After Trevor 1, Chester has a dream that Zaph kidnaps him, and angler is planning on unleashing a weather machine onto Rodenttown. It is up to Trevor to save them before it is too late

The Main Questâ„¢
You play Trevor, a mild mannered chipmunk.

Talk to Rodenttown residents to get an idea where Chester is. Get your wiffle bat from the old man.

You set out through the forest to find Angler's weather fortress.
Angler has set some traps for Trevor in the forest; there are a couple of rock puzzles, and some bribery to be done with the guards as you near the fortress.

Break into the fortress by crawling into an underground cavern and working your way up. Several small battles with meanies. Meet a merchant about half way though to replenish hearts and bombs.

As you reach the bottom level of the fortress, fight a battle with Zaph. Zaph uses one of Angler's inventions to create a Trevor double, and he runs around wiffling back at you.

After you defeat your double, Zaph teleports out. Then you enter the fortress. On the ground floors you find several chambers with different weather patterns, snow, autumn, rain, summer heat. You fight different types of baddies depending on the room. After you find the keycards from each room, you use them to open the door to the Weather machine.

You find Angler there, but only a shadow of him. You fight off several bubble fishes, and then Zaph comes against you with a pair of doubles this time. Keep them off and then Zaph teleports out again. You set bombs on the key platforms of the machine and you have two minutes to escape the fortress. After 30 seconds pass, you find Zaph teleported back into the machine chamber and tried to disarm the bombs, only causing them to blow up prematurely, trapping Trevor in the rubble.

Chester, having been freed earlier, runs back to the fortress only, but cannot find Trevor.

He then awakes from his dream, his grandfather at his side.

I may add a side quest as things go along, don't know if I'll have time.

Brandon: I am glorious!
Ok, well, maybe not. But why the hell should I pay Best Buy to install my new head unit in my car when all that was standing in my way was a trio of climate control knobs. The install went very well. After wiring up the wiring harness, it took me only a half hour to coax the old deck out of the dash. After that, it was surprisingly easy to move the climate control knobs over. Just followed the included directions and it was easy as 3.141592649. Anyways, once I got the climate control knobs re-arranged, and cut the little knotch out of the old mounting area as instructed, I was able to put the new dash mount in, and put the stereo mounting bracket in and secure it. After a little coaxing, I got the head unit to finally snap into place, I think I could have re-attached the main climate control cables underneath one of the old supports to give it more room, but anyways, what matters is that it worked right, and the first time no less. It only took 3 hours from start to finish too.

Oh, and by the way, the deck I got was the Pioneer DEH-P4500MP CD player with MP3 playback, flip down/detachable face and remote control ;). Got it for a great price at work too. And Did'nt have to spend $50 more on install. Besides, if I wanted my employee discount, I would have to have gone in whenever the install bay was'nt busy, I couldn't just set an appointment. And they are always busy.

Anyways, in other news, I did decide to enter something into the RPGDX 48 hour contest, and right now I'm tweaking the engine I'm going to use. Fixed an animation problem, the movable object problem, added a new font handler, and am now trying to fix a dialog box display problem.

Yes, B is a busy B =P

Brandon: Happy Holiday
Easter was nice, it was good to have a day off and eat an entire bag of Starburst(tm) Jellybeans. Ok, so I did'nt need to or have to eat them all, but they were good. And Mel was asleep anyways.

I keep thinking that I want to try and enter the RPGDX 48 hour Mini RPG competition later this month. With Steve's blessing, I could do a small Trevor side story for it. I think if I have those days off It would be great fun. Although, I don't know if I will have those days off, so we'll see. I might try and compete, but since I don't know if there is a theme or anything, I may just try, and see if I can complete a small game in the time allowed.

Heh, anyways, in other news, TimmyR is coming along nicley. Picking polygons is a pain in the side. The C++ example works nicley, but when I try the exact same thing in VB, it tends to not work. Maybe a problem with the VB DX8 interface or something. I don't know. I need to do some more research on the maths behind it before I can fix the problem.

Brandon: Progress...or something similar, at least.
I've got a lot of things to do this week. But I guess I'm making a little progress. I'm going to be so busy on my day off this week, but that's ok. I need to use my palm and keep my to-do list up to day.

In other news, I'm learning the joys of CVS, and how I can integrate it into Microsoft Visual Studio. Sure it's not as nice as SourceSafe, but if I wanted to I could hack on the client a little bit and add some of the functionality I want. Oh, and NTCVS is great. It's amazing what free software can do. Combine Igloo, with WinCVS and NTCVS, and boy have you got a wicked combination.

And at least I'll have my important projects backed up if anything happens to my system. I really should have it archive the cvs off site. But since I'm probably going to be the only one using the system, I'd rather have the speed that comes from running it localy.

Anyways.

Brandon: Relaxing Weekend...
Well, the weekend was good, methinks. Gots some things straightened out, got a little work done. Have more work to be done, but it's all good.

Finally got some direction in the S+F projects I'm part of. Going to be working harder on that engine for Kyle, and hopefully I'll have it done in a few weeks. That's if I can get the 3d part figured out ;).

After that's done, maybe we can continue the Trevor Trilogy re-make. This is going to be a good year.

Anyways :)
