Nathan Tyree: Money!
I have recently attained a large amount of PreWar Iraqi money. Mostly these are 250 Dinar bills, each bearing the image of Saddam Hussein.

Nathan Tyree: Religious Movies
The Opening of the Da Vinci Code (which, frankly, should be called The Leonardo Code) got me thinking about the financial aspects of releasing a religiously themed film. The last big movie with heavy Chrsitian themes was Mel Gibsons porno-violence fest, The Passion of the Christ.

I was wondering if Ron Howard's goofy puzzle movie could possibly out Gross TPotC. A little research revealed that, in its entire run, Gibson's flaggelation piece pulled in $604M world Wide. This is a massive amount, but far from the all time block buster status that some fans of the film keep trumpeting.

TDVC has grossed $224M world wide in its first weekend, putting on pace to eclipse Passion.

For those who are wondering, The All time box office champs are:

Titanic 1.8 Billion
Lord of the Rings: Return of the King 1.1 Billion
Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone 968 Million
Start Wars Episode 1 922 Million
The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers 921 Million

Nathan Tyree: Power
A brief history lesson:

Diogenes, the great Cynic Philosopher, once met Alexander the Great. Alexander's convoy came upon the philosopher sunning himself by the road side. Alexander knew Diogenes by reputation and extended him a curious respect. The conqueror told Diogenes that he would grant him any wish, if he would only ask. Diogenes thought for a moment, then replied that he wished that Alexander would move and stop blocking the sun.

Now the quiz:

Whic of these men was more powerful?

Nathan Tyree: My Worst Fears

Another president Bush? I actually predicted this 2 years ago. At the time people seemed to think that I was crazy. Surely, they would say, the Bush bunch doesn't want to create a neverending dynasty to rule the U.S (and the world) forever!

It's starting to look like I was right.
