Hot Take: The riot yesterday has the same cause as the riots all last summer. People that feel as though they have no voice will act out. The systems responsible may be different, but the results are the same.

Somehow I think the "results" felt by Black America at large aren't really comparable at all.

Obviously though, everything is relative to one's own perspective.

The protests sparked by the murder of George Floyd weren't about black voices. They were about the different (and more dangerous) America that they are forced to navigate. Some people took advantage of these protests to riot.

The protest sparked by the election of Joe Biden wasn't about Republican voices. They had just expressed it via a vote. It was an angry response to not winning, and looking for any excuse to reject that reality. Some people took advantage of that protest to ASSAULT THE FUCKING UNITED STATES CAPITOL BUILDING.

But sure, 6 of one, half a dozen of the other.
