Nathan Tyree: Cars or Smokes?
Each year 350,000 people die in auto accidents. 3 million people now die each year from the effects of air pollution, much of which is due to cars, trucks and SUVs.
We must stop second hand driving!

I'm all for a person's right to smoke, and think anti-smoking laws are, for the most part, ridiculous. I'm also sick and tired of seeing the damn truth commercials Archimago mentioned. (I saw the title of his post before the content and inserted the little statistic about smoking killing as joke).
However, I do believe that children should be educated on the adverse health conditions associated with and addictive nature of nicotine infused tobacco products. I just think that the responsibility should be left to their parents and not to the squawking box. However, since it raises more and more children these days, I can see why the case may be made that it's more effective. I just wish they'd target a younger audience and put them on during Spongebob (or whatever is on Nickelodeon these days) commercials.
Even though I've been off the smokes for a little over 6 months, I still feel the daily urge to light one up, especially if I see or smell someone else's. However, it's my hope that my daughter will choose not to smoke, and so I'm quitting for her sake as well as my own.
That was probably more of a response than was warranted, but I've been thinking about this lately.
