But seriously, it really depends on what you are using the site for. Will it just be a few static pages, or do you plan on blogging and updating frequently?

I highly recommend WordPress, which is the software that Rhetoric@Random runs on. It comes preloaded with a bunch of themes, but if you get adventurous, and want to learn a little more about XHTML and PHP, you can throw together your own.

You already got your hosting lined up?

I want it to look clean and simple. No blogging or anything like that, but it should update frequently with news and credits and such. I basically just want 4 pages with very little clutter. I may design a banner for the top.

A single page blog format would probably be the way to go for your "news updates", with a static front page that pulled the most recent "news update" to some section of it.

I'd also recommend a sidebar instead of placing all links in context.
