Nathan Tyree: The Veeps
If the MSM is to be believed, John McCain will pick one of the following as his running mate: Joe Lieberman, Mitt Romney, Tom Ridge, and Tim Pawlenty. I’m not in the business of giving McCain good advice, but if I were I’d tell him to pick Pawlenty. Not for what he adds (which is exactly nothing: he cannot deliver his home state, has no name recognition, is a boring speaker and excites no one), but because of what he doesn’t subtract.

Lieberman, Ridge and Romney all alienate parts of the McCain base and help to unite Democrats. Ridge ties McCain even more closely to Bush and Co. Which he cannot afford. Lieberman alienates the religious right. Romney alienates parts of the religious right (due to being LDS).

Oh, and on the veep subject, maybe this is why people think Biden is a gaffe machine :

“If I hear one more time that [Obama] was 11 years old when I went to the senate, I’m going to smack someone," [Biden] said.
