Tonight, after I clock out at Pizza Hut for the last time ever, I'm going to watch Ringu. It's the Japanese film that inspired The Ring.

Saturday night I went to see The Village, the new film from M. Night Shyamalan. He's the guy behind The Sixth Sense and Unbreakable.

I don't want to give much away as the film is being sold on its "twist" ending, but I do want to say that this is the most political movie I've seen all year. It is fiercely anti-Bush. This si a movie that would have right wingers up in arms if only they understood it.

Personally, I recommend seeing this film. It is solid political filmmaking and manages to be entertaining at the same time.

In other news: I may grow a beard.

The Village doesn't rely on its twist ending- in fact, it's pretty easy to guess. It has something compleely different going on.

By the way Ringu is as creepy as the ring, but in a slightly different way. I can't wait for Ju-On, and The Grudge. They're being released at the same time here in the U.S.

I'm going to see The Village tonight. I do not expect to be impressed, though. I find all of Shyamalan's movies entertaining, but think that the whole "twist ending" crutch is getting old. The Sixth Sense and even Unbreakable had actual stories and characters. Signs was just a long drawn out setup for a weak ending. I haven't had this one "spoiled" for me yet, but from what I've heard, it's in the same boat.

Eh.

It was all right. Better than Signs. I "got" the message, although it is original only in it's presentation. I wouldn't call it anti-Bush, though. That limits the field too much.

All in all, pretty predictable.
