fuzmeister: Latest Code Frenzy
For years, I used a specific forum signature generator. The site that provided the service recently disappeared from the internet. Being the somewhat motivated programmer that I am, I simply decided to write a clone from scratch.

If you're a user of last.fm, you can pop in your info here and take it for a test drive. There's no error handling yet, so don't expect it to be unbreakable.

This is the second time I used the last.fm API (the first was for the vent module). It's pretty fun to mess with and pretty easy.

Code on.

fuzmeister: The A-Team
I never thought I'd be saying this, but after finally just seeing the 2010 A-Team film, I'm convinced it's the best possible film they could have made.

Good fun with completely over the top action...

I must be mellowing in my old age...

I don't try to use this space for anything political too often, but seeing Porter Stansberry's ridiculous online video made me feel the need to toss my two cents in.

It's not secret that this country and the world at large is swirling down the proverbial shitter. I'm not attempting to point fingers at any one group, individual, or business here; I'm simply saying that most people of moderate intelligence can see the writing on the wall and realize things ain't what they used to be.

Now, my real problem with Stansberry's video isn't that he points out facts in support of western decline (though he seems to only address certain facts that support his cause). My problem is how blatantly obvious his intentions are by the end of the video. He wants to make an easy buck and sincerely hopes what you just watched has scared you enough to fork over a few bucks.

Lame.

If people like this who saw the economic problems we're having on a national and international scale could get past trying to make a quick buck, they might be more respected by the mainstream and taken more seriously. Then maybe we could fix problems instead of simply riding the wave out in a proverbial handbasket.

fuzmeister: Post #805
So I've been on this site on and off for almost nine and a half years. Relative to the entire lifespan of the internet, that's quite a while!

I was just rereading some old entries from years ago and a lot of stuff has changed. I like reading bits where I talk about my now-wife in girlfriend terms. I also like seeing how my ambitions have changed and certain, older ones have withered and died.

I was just commenting this morning to a co-worker how I'd like to see a study done that measures the psychological health effects of people who are entrenched in a lifestyle of constantly using technology (AKA everyone this day in age).

I think that why I quit Facebook. I think after six years of using their site, they had me roped in psychologically. I would feel an almost primal urge to check the site anytime I opened a new browser window. Why? Conditioning probably. Who knows? I'm not saying it isn't good for some people, just not for me.

Anyway, I like Ventilation. I think microblogging (like twitter) and social networking sites have all but killed the activity around here over the past two or three years. It's ok - I'll still be here when you all get back.
